Am I entitled to compensation in case of a flight delay?

When the delay at the final destination is 3 hours or more, there may be a right to compensation, according to the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Communities and EU regulation (EC) No. 261/2004.

The right to a refund depends on several factors. A flight may be delayed due to an "extraordinary circumstance," over which the airline has no control. This includes strikes, adverse weather conditions, or security issues.

For delays due to other reasons, a refund is likely possible. The amount of compensation depends on the flight distance:

  • €250 for flights less than 1,500 km
  • €400 for flights within the EU over 1,500 km, and for other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km
  • €600 for flights outside the EU over 3,500 km

In the event of a delay of more than 3 hours at the final destination, compensation can be requested via our claim form. It is important to have your booking information (flight number, flight date, and booking number) and receipts for any expenses incurred during the wait (refreshments, accommodation, transport between the airport and accommodation and vice versa).

For those who booked through a travel agency, the compensation request is also handled here. Customers who booked through a travel agency or do not have an IBAN bank account number can request a refund via our contact form.
