What are the rules for checked baggage?

You can book 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 kilos of additional checked baggage when booking your flight, or afterwards at My Transavia. Make sure you book before you check in (online), but no later than two hours before departure. Once you’ve checked in, your booking can no longer be changed.

The rules for checked baggage are:

  • Maximum total weight: 50 kg per passenger.
  • Maximum weight per piece of luggage: 32 kg.
  • Maximum dimensions: 165 cm (total of length + width + height), including handles and wheels.
  • The rate depends on your route. The actual rate will be shown at the time of booking.

*For the Amsterdam-Beirut and Beirut-Amsterdam routes, you can book a maximum of 30 kg of additional checked baggage per person. If you’ve already booked 30 kg, you cannot book any additional kilos at the airport.

Packing tips

  • You can distribute your booked kilos of checked baggage over a maximum of five pieces of baggage. However, your trip will run more smoothly if you travel with less checked baggage. We actually encourage you to put everything in one suitcase to save time when you check in at the airport.
  • If you and your travel group are travelling on one booking, you may distribute the kilos of checked baggage among the group members. Please make sure you and your travel group check in the checked baggage together at the check-in desk.

Prohibited in your baggage

You can bring a lot in your checked baggage, but there are certain items you cannot bring (without authorisation). Check what you can and cannot bring in the FAQ topic 'Allowed in baggage'.

Baggage rules for traveling with children and babies

In addition to your other baggage, you may bring one pram, foldable umbrella buggy or travel buggy weighing up to 10 kilos for free for each child. For more information about the baggage rules and useful tips about travelling with children, read the FAQ topics ‘Flying with a baby’ and ‘Flying with one or more children’.

Good to know: Never leave your luggage unattended at the airport. Some airports will immediately undertake extra security measures when this happens.
