Am I entitled to compensation in case of a flight delay?
In the event of a delay of three hours or longer, you may be entitled to financial compensation. This has been determined by the European Court of Justice on the basis of European regulations (EU Regulation 261/2004).
Whether you qualify for compensation will depend on a number of things. Sometimes, a flight is delayed because of a so-called ‘extraordinary circumstance’. This is something beyond our control as an airline. This may include strikes, bad weather or security problems.
Is your flight delayed for another reason? In that case you are probably entitled to compensation. The amount of the compensation depends on the length of the flight.
- €250 For flights shorter than 1500 km
- €400 For flights within the EU longer than 1500 km and for other flights between 1500 and 3500 km
- €600 For flights outside the EU, longer than 3500 km
If your flight has been delayed for 3 hours or longer, you may apply for financial compensation by using our claim form. Make sure you have your booking details such as flight number, flight date and booking number as well as any receipts for expenses incurred ready. This is also how you apply for compensation if you’ve booked through a travel agency.
