Book your plane ticket to Perpignan

Perpignan is the beautiful capital city of the French Pyrenees in Southeast France. Perpignan was originally a Catalonian city and you won’t have any trouble recognising the Catalonian influences. The city is situated in the middle of the Pyrenees and close to the beach so you get the best of both worlds! With 300 sunny days per year, it’s one of the warmest destinations in France so you can enjoy yourselves to the full.

Capital of Catalan Culture

Perpignan was named as the Capital of Catalan Culture in 2008. You’ll certainly find the most beautiful sights here. Don’t miss a trip to Le Castillet, a 14th-century fort that is part of the walls that used to surround the city. The fort was once a gateway and even a prison. Le Castillet houses a museum that teaches you all about the history of the city and the local culture. Tip! Climb the fort’s towers and be rewarded with a spectacular view of the surroundings. The Gothic Palais des Rois de Majorque is also highly recommended to visit. The palace was built in the 13th century to defend the city. Besides sights, Perpignan also has many museums that are all worth visiting.

Food & drink in Perpignan

You’ll find the most delicious restaurants and friendliest cafes in Perpignan. The Perpignan cuisine betrays the French and Catalonian influences. Sometimes you'll be amazed by the surprising and tasteful Mediterranean flavour combinations that are presented to you. If you would rather sample the local atmosphere at a market, then you will find Les Halles de Vauban by the canals in Perpignan. These are large market halls with countless stalls selling fruit, vegetables, flowers and cheese. There’s also a central dining room where you can try all kinds of global dishes. Can’t eat anymore? Then go to the flea market on the corner at Marche Aux Puces and admire the lovely antique furniture and trinkets. It doesn’t get any more French than this!
