Fly to Skiathos: an island with over 60 beaches 

Skiathos has over 60 different beautiful beaches. Koukounaries is the island’s most famous beach. The golden sand glistens in the sun, and the shallow water is perfect for children to play in. Behind the beach, there is a beautiful forest of pine trees, offering a bit of shade and cool. Looking for a quiet getaway? Then go to Agia Eleni. This smaller beach is on the west side of the island. Here, you can watch the sun sink into the ocean while enjoying a drink at one of the beach bars. Close to Skiathos city is Megali Ammos. You can reach it on foot. If you’re looking for a real adventure, go to Lalaria. This beach, with its white pebbles and impressive rocks, can only be reached by boat.

Make sure you visit the house of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the famous writer, which has been turned into a small museum. This house tells you the story of the life and work of this Greek author. Did you know that parts of the film Mamma Mia were shot on Skiathos? A few famous scenes were recorded near the Agios Ioannis church. Climb all 105 steps to the top and enjoy a breathtaking view.

You’ll land at Skiathos International Airport (JSI), also known as Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport, which is right near the capital. From the airport, it is quite easy to reach your destination. The city centre of Skiathos is only 2 kilometres away. 

What’s the weather like on Skiathos? In summer, it gets nice and warm here, with temperatures hovering between 26 °C – 32 °C. Perfect for long days on one of its more than 60 beaches. Spring and autumn are quite nice, with temperatures reaching between 18 °C – 25 °C. Winters are mild, with temperatures reaching between 10 °C – 15 °C.
