Sunshine, sea and safari. That’s Senegal. This African country encloses Gambia and is a neighbour to Mauritania, Guinea and Mali. The temperatures are nice and warm all throughout the year and this makes it a great place to spend your holiday! Discover the African wildlife or the colonial history in Dakar. Senegal will amaze and surprise you. When are you flying there?

When you think about wildlife and safari you’ll probably think of South-Africa, Namibia or Kenya. But Senegal should certainly be on this list as well! The national park Niokolo Koba, in the south of the country, is a must visit for example. This wildpark is 900.000 hectares in size and part of UNESCO’s world heritage list, indicating its special status. If you’re lucky you’ll see leopards, lions, elephants, water buffalo, giraffes and crocodiles.

Desert

On the other side, in the northwest of Senegal you’ll find the Lompoul desert. A small desert with the ocean right behind the sandy dunes. An unique location that is a must visit. Are you adventurous? Spend the night in here. During the day it’s incredibly hot and at night it gets really cold, an adventure in itself.

Dakar & the pink lake

On the most western tip of the country is the capital city, Dakar. The city is almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic ocean, so there are many nice beaches. Saly is one of them. Here you’ll find white sand and the bird reserve La Somone. The reserve is home to about 150 different species of birds, nice for a morning trip. Culturally and historically Dakar is a treasure as well. Only 25 kilometres from the city is the Pink Lake. An impressive salt lake that is only separated from the ocean by some dunes. The name explains what you’ll find: bright pink water. It’s quite a view. When will you visit?
